What am I paying for?
You’re paying for my time, research, knowledge, and all the “behind-the-scenes” work that goes into planning a trip. The planning fee is flat payment for my work, it is not a deposit toward your travel expenses.
How far in advance should I contact you?
Most clients book 3-9 months before their trip. I usually recommend ~6 months for international trips. I recommend booking even earlier for extra popular destinations, peak season travel, or complicated itineraries. It would be a lie to say I’ve never started planning a year in advance. Last-minute trips can sometimes be accommodated depending on availability.
Do you only plan certain destinations?
Definitely not! While I’ve spent a lot of time traveling throughout Europe and the western US, I’m comfortable planning trips to (almost) anywhere.
Do you book flights?
The answer to this depends on the package you choose. For my Concierge service clients, almost! I will forward you the link to the exact flight, then we will book together during a video call.
What happens if my flight is canceled?
Travel doesn’t always go according to plan. It’s not uncommon to be impacted by a delayed flight, cancelled train, or rainy day. If something unexpected happens before or during your trip, I’ll help you figure out your next steps.
For Concierge clients, I’ll work with the appropriate airline, hotel, or tour operator when I’m able to do so. I’ll also help adjust the rest of your itinerary when that disruption creates a ripple effect.
For Basic and Complete clients, on-trip support is more limited. I can provide guidance when something goes wrong, but you are responsible for contacting the airlines, hotels, and other providers.
Can you assist with travel insurance?
Travel insurance is strongly recommended for trips involving international travel or non-refundable expenses. I can provide information about available travel insurance options, but clients are responsible for reviewing the policy and determining whether the coverage meets their needs.
Your prices say “starting at”, what can increase the price?
Factors that can increase the price include number of travelers, number of destinations, trip length, complexity, and how much coordination is involved. Package prices are starting points – I’ll provide a quote before any planning begins.
What is in a revision?
Revisions include reasonable changes to the existing itinerary. For example, “We’d rather spend one less night in Florence” or “I decided that activity actually isn’t something I’m interested in”. A revision is not, “We’ve decided were actually going to Thailand instead of Italy”. Major changes to the original trip may require an additional planning fee.
Where have you traveled to?
I’ve traveled to 22 countries and 23 states. I have returned multiple times to some places, including Ireland, Portugal, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and England.
Do you earn commission?
No, I do not make commission from any bookings. This means I am not tied to any brand, airline, or hotel provider. My recommendations are based solely on what I believe is best for you, not on what will earn me the most money.
